A Brighton graphic designer is helping Honda go off-road with a new web site.

Nigel Gordijk designed and programmed the site for Honda UK's All Terrain Vehicles (ATV) division, which is aimed at the farming, construction and leisure industries.

His brief was to produce a distinctive site to reflect the Honda ATV brand and help people find information about the vehicles.

He said: "People visit Honda web sites looking for information about the vehicles they produce. The old version of the site made it difficult to do that because of its complex navigation. I've made it easier for users to get to the product details."

Within a week of accepting the brief, Mr Gordijk had posted three design concepts on his extranet site, which could be viewed and chosen from by staff at Honda UK's head office in Slough, Berkshire.

He completed the site, which consists of more than 70 pages, in three weeks at his home-based office.

Mr Gordijk said the project reflected the growing trend for companies to use freelances.

He said: "Contractors more often than not work from their home office so the client isn't paying for office space and support it never needs."

The design articles he writes for United States web sites Webreference. com and StickyIdeas.com have proved a good way of making business contacts in the UK and abroad.
