East Grinstead are sitting pretty in second place after a 3-2 victory over fellow National League division two promotion hopefuls Nottingham on Sunday.

Ian Pattison spurned a great chance to open the scoring after intercepting a back pass but Grinstead did take the lead after 18 minutes when Richard Payne scored with a penalty flick after his brother Ben had been fouled.

Grinstead extended their lead after the break when Andrew Medcalf finished off a good move involving Ben Payne and Pattison.

Nottingham pulled a goal back on the counter-attack through Gisborne on 53 minutes and then drew level as they converted a corner through Kilpatrick.

Fears that Grinstead's hard work would all be for nothing were quashed when Dom Male grabbed the winner with a drag flick into the roof of the net.

Grinstead manager Janina Jedamzik said: "I am delighted by the way the players have improved so far this season. We can take a well-earned break before preparing for what will be a tough second half of the season."

Lewes slid to a 2-1 defeat at Bournville in division one, but boss Peter Boyse felt they had done enough to win.

He said: "We do not seem to be able to get the shots in on goal to reflect our possession."

Trotman gave Bournville the lead after 25 minutes against the run of play but Lewes were level three minutes later when Luke Hurle's ball into the D was swept home by Barnaby Stubbs for his first National League goal.

Tyler grabbed the winner for the hosts after 56 minutes.

Danny Poulsen played his last game before going travelling for a year.
