Lasers and fireworks will light up a seaside town as its Christmas festival gets under way.

Three days of fun and festive cheer begin in Shoreham with a late-night shopping extravaganza tonight and tomorrow.

Traders will stay open until 8pm, giving revellers extra time to buy their Christmas presents.

An ice-skating rink will be set up on Coronation Green and a children's funfair will give youngsters a chance to enjoy themselves while their parents shop.

Jazz and samba bands will provide live music for the event which will be opened by stars from the pantomime Cinderella at the Pavilion Theatre, Worthing.

Charities will have stalls selling Christmas goodies in a marquee on Coronation Green and a special competition will be held to find an assistant Santa of the Year.

Money raised from entries to the competition will be given to the Chestnut Tree House Appeal.

A farmers market will be held in the town centre tomorrow morning, followed by a charity market in the afternoon.

A special Christmas craft market will take place on Sunday.

The festivities have been organised by the Shoreham Town Centre Partnership as part of the regeneration of the town centre.
