Brighton's 4-0 win over Horsham in the Kent/Sussex Regional League left skipper Carlo Missirian purring.

Missirian said: "That was probably our best hockey of the year. In the first half we were 3-0 up and we really played well.

"They didn't really threaten us at all. Defensively and attacking wise it was a superb first half."

Graham Pruce put Brighton ahead from open play and Dave Delea made it 2-0 as he seized on Mohamed Samak's reverse pass.

Mohamed Nagey and Richard Cooke scored from short corners to seal victory.

Horsham skipper Mark Ansell said: "We played badly and deserved it. We had words at half time and played better in the second half but failed to put away some early chances.

"But Brighton played really well. They are very organised and hopefully they will do well."

The other Sussex derby saw Worthing run out 3-1 winners at home to Crawley.

The visitors started well but the only goal of the first half came when John Massie scored from open play after being set up by Mark Minchell's pass.

Minchell also set up skipper Simon Holloway to make it 2-0 in the second half and Rex Fuller scored the third, sweeping up off the keeper Gary Thornton's pads following a short corner.

Worthing had other chances with Andy Allan (twice) and Mark Duncan hitting the post while Crawley pulled one back late on through Terry Higgs.

Holloway said: "It could have been a lot more but I am pleased with the result. We have a hard run-in to Christmas now and this is what we needed to give us some confidence."

Mid Sussex had a 3-1 victory over Herne Bay. Simon Hobden scored the first with a deflection from a Giles Musson pass. Andy Green made it 2-0 from a short corner before half time and Phil Middleton wrapped up victory.
