Albion ace Bobby Zamora could be a Premiership hit, according to the latest boss to suffer from his scoring exploits.

The Seagulls have not yet received a bid from a top flight club for Zamora, whose 12th goal of the season beat promotion rivals Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

City manager and former Albion favourite Danny Wilson, previously a Premiership boss with Barnsley, said: "It does surprise me.

"With the money that is being banded about nowadays clubs are possibly being a lot more careful and are picking and choosing.

"Sometimes they want somebody tried and tested in the Premier League.

"One or two situations have arisen this season where buying somebody from the lower divisions hasn't worked out, so managers and chairmen in particular have become a bit more wary.

"But I honestly think the boy would go well in the Premiership, no problem."

Zamora scored for the fourth away game running, from a Nathan Jones cross, to keep the Seagulls on the heels of leaders Brentford in second spot.

Defender Simon Morgan said: "It was a fantastic goal, absolutely brilliant. He is capable of that all the time.

"I don't know what he has got to do to get the attention of the top clubs.

"I am surprised but delighted that he hasn't and we want it to stay like that. He's got so much quality."

Boss Peter Taylor, still unbeaten after five games in charge, declared: "I've said before if you have got somebody like Bobby in the team you have got a chance at this level, because if you can organise the other players you are always going to score.

"It's also very encouraging the way Lee Steele is playing. The front two were the difference. They worked so hard for each other and the team."

Zamora limped off early in the second half with a strained hamstring tendon, but he is expected to be fit for Saturday's home game against Brian Horton's Port Vale.

Albion have now lost only once in the last 13 matches and they have opened a seven-point gap over Wilson's side.
