Unsuspecting users of Hove Station should never leave their cars unattended in the frequently empty parking bays opposite the entrance to the station.

At 8.10pm last Wednesday, I parked there, ran into the station, had my passport photos taken, looked outside and saw my car had been clamped.

I had not even waited for the photos to develop. I was extremely upset because the employee of the security company insisted I had to pay £60 for him to remove the clamp and I had no choice but to do so.

A woman who had witnessed me arrive and the events unfold intervened because she thought it was unfair and was told it was none of her business.

At this time of night, there are no parking restrictions on the streets in this part of Hove.

I am sure there are many other people who use these parking spaces in the same way I did or to buy tickets to travel in advance, so helping the rail company by reducing queues at busy periods.

So please be warned. I still cannot believe I paid £63 for four passport photographs. I cannot have been inside the station for two minutes.
