On behalf of the Royal Air Forces Association and, particularly, the Shoreham branch, I would like to extend our most grateful thanks to the following.
The members, friends and relations of members and friends. The many who just want to be a part of raising so much money for a cause which is so close to many hearts.
Through your endeavours, the new building at the RAFA nursing home in Storrington will be able to go ahead and, with luck, completed by early next year.
Your support and loyalty to me and the association is so important and enables our small branch to achieve such fantastic results for the Wings Appeal charity.
This year, with the most grateful support of our main sponsor, The Argus, we have realised our target and raised in excess of £100,000 for the charity, the first time in the history of the association that a branch has raised a six-figure sum.
I speak on behalf of the branch when I say we are justly proud to be able to help with the welfare and in-home care of so many ex-RAF personnel.
The organisation of an airshow is really time-consuming and everyone involved is a volunteer, which enables such fantastic results. Should we have to pay all the helpers, our fundraising would be minimal.
Thank you all again and, with the support of the committee, management and staff at Shoreham Airport, long may our work continue.
-Don Bean MBE, Airshow Organiser, Hon Wings Appeal Officer, The Royal Air Forces Association, Shoreham Airport
