Thank you for reporting Denis Brice's epic run in aid of cystic fibrosis (The Argus, October 3). However, I should like to correct several points in the article.

Although Worthing is also twinned with Olonne-sur-Mer, Denis actually started his run from the neighbouring twinned resort of Les Sables d'Olonne, which is in the Vende, South-Western Loire, not Brittany.

It not only has a Tour d'Arundel but also is about to have a roundabout bearing the name Worthing.

Denis did not present Worthing's mayor with a boat but, rather, with a painting of the pier and seafront as a souvenir.

The Twinning Association presented him with a commemorative trophy bearing his slogan for the run ("Giving his breath to those who have none").

The president of the French Twinning Association was presented with a paperweight bearing the Worthing coat of arms by the mayor, as was Dr Marsili, the French council member responsible for twinning.

He, in turn, presented Worthing with the distinctive flag of the Vende with its famous red hearts logo.

Worthing's mayor also invited French guests to visit her at the town hall on the following day, when they were shown round and received in the Mayor's Parlour.

All this was to help raise the profile of research to find a cure for cystic fibrosis.

With daily treatment, maximum life expectancy of those least affected is 31 and, for many, the only solution is a heart, lung and liver transplant.

Anyone wishing to make a donation can contact Worthing Twinning Association at Worthing Town Hall. We still have a few sponsorship forms left.
