Sixty new jobs have been created at a refurbished supermarket.

Sainsbury's, in Lewes Road, Brighton, will reopen its doors tomorrow after a £3.7 million refit carried out in just one week.

A spokesman said the new jobs would be a mixture of full and part-time.

The supermarket chain promises "a brand new shopping experience" at the store.

This will include new check-outs which Sainsbury's claim will help speed shoppers on their way.

Sainsbury's said there would be a large increase in product lines at the store, which has been closed since 6pm last Thursday.

The new look supermarket will feature a refurbished fish counter and a new meat counter, which Sainsbury's said would recreate the feel of a traditional butcher's.

Tomorrow's reopening will be marked by a charity trolley dash to raise money for the city's Womens' Refuge project.

Store manager David Moore said: "I'm looking forward to welcoming 60 new colleagues to the store."

Mr Moore said he was sure customers would be as pleased with the new-look store as he was.

He added: "There really is something for everyone."

Stuart Machin, Sainsbury's regional business manager, will officially reopen the shop by cutting a ribbon with the help of the first customer to arrive.

A jazz band will add to the celebrations.
