Traders are concerned about a television programme called Brighton Bill.

It is a BBC fly-on-the-wall documentary about Brighton police, depicting some of the more sordid scenes of city life.

Businesses are worried that the violence and abuse which has formed a large part of this programme will put people off visiting Brighton and Hove.

This is just what the city does not need. Many people have worked hard to market Brighton and Hove as a city to be proud of, a city which has plenty to offer to tourists, businesses and its residents, a city on the up.

The last thing we want is for millions of people to think daily life in Brighton is the seedy, violent and scary place seen on television. Let's hope viewers have more sense.
