A 17-year-old girl was left in a state of shock after a motorist attempted to drag her into his car.

The teenager was walking along Ifield Drive, Crawley, to meet a friend just after midnight when she was attacked by the man who is described as being in his late 20s or early 30s, possibly Asian or having dark tanned skin.

A small Peugeot, either white or silver, approached from behind. It slowed down and the front passenger door was opened, blocking her path.

She felt a hand reach out and grab her clothes. She struggled as the man, who had short, dark hair and a small patch of stubble on the bottom of his chin, tried to pull her towards the car but she managed to break free from his grip and ran off.

Although not physically hurt by the incident, she was described as being very shocked by what happened.

The man was also wearing a dark t-shirt with red lettering across the middle, dark trousers, and had sunglasses pushed up on to the top of his head.
