Warner Brothers' cartoon favourite Scooby-Doo appears in a Wild West ghost town and a mediaeval castle in two games for PC aimed at the younger player.
In Scooby-Doo Showdown in Ghost Town, the intrepid gang of crime-solvers is confronted with the mystery of an old gold heist and a faceless phantom.
With three levels of difficulty, ranging from spooky to spooktacular, the puzzle involves searching out items, such as a timer for the bank vault doors, an oil lamp and even the teeth of an ancient prospector, as Scooby and his chums rescue an archaeology professor and his students from the Faceless Rider.
You need Scooby snacks (doggy biscuits) to persuade the hero sleuth to persevere in his adventure. Winning a pie fight enables you to top up the supply of these essential bribes.
Scooby-Doo Phantom of the Knight is another ghostly mystery adventure.
The setting is a castle theme park which a pizza company wants to turn into a restaurant, to the annoyance of a resident ghost who conjures up a dragon to scare away visitors.
Players have to trace a missing princess and unravel the truth about the ghost. This time around, you win your Scooby snacks by serving beer to the knights of the castle.
Cartoon-style graphics and simple controls make the games an ideal for the junior player. Both will prove excellent fun for six to nine-year-olds.
Price: £24.99 each.
