Inmates at Lewes Prison had to be moved after fire broke out in a cell.
The blaze started at 8.40pm yesterday.
Prisoners near the fire had to be moved to another part of the wing while firefighters tackled the flames.
Fire crews from Lewes, Hove and Brighton attended the scene. No one was injured.
