Albion are still sweating on Southampton swooping for boss Micky Adams.

The Seagulls have not received an approach for the Third Division manager of the year.

But Saints chairman Rupert Lowe says he is in no rush to appoint Glenn Hoddle's successor.

Adams will not be with his title winners at his old club tomorrow for the last ever match at The Dell.

He is going instead to the division three play-off final between Blackpool and Leyton Orient at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

Adams has been linked with the Southampton job ever since Hoddle quit to rejoin Spurs.

Albion have offered Adams a new contract to replace the existing four-year deal he is just over halfway through.

Chief executive Martin Perry said: "The position is exactly the same as it was before. There has been absolutely no approach to the club in respect of Micky Adams.

"We have demonstrated by offering Micky a revised contract that we are very keen to keep him."

Harry Redknapp, who lives in Poole, is a top contender for the Southampton job after leaving West Ham.

Coach Stuart Gray has been in caretaker charge at the Dell since Hoddle's departure and Lowe said: "We haven't really got a timetable.

"We will do it in our own time and not force deadlines on ourselves that mean we make the wrong decision.

"The back up is for us to have somebody in place by the beginning of the new season or at least have some certainty by July 2 when the players come back."

Albion, fresh from a five-day break in Marbella, are missing three key players through injury.

Richard Carpenter is recovering from ankle surgery, fellow midfielder Charlie Oatway has been ordered to rest a troublesome knee and central defender Danny Cullip has an ankle operation next week.

Trialist Chris Allen could get another chance to press his case for a contract. The former England under 21 winger made his first appearance in the first team in the benefit match for physio Malcolm Stuart and retired kit man Jock Riddell against Charlton earlier this month.

Some of Albion's 1,300 tickets, priced £18 adults and £10 concessions, are still available to away scheme members only.
