Worthing B defeated Storrington 48-31 in the English Association Two Fours Championship on the village club's green.

Colin Kent beat George Rudge 24-20 and Brian Dunne overcame Ron Bishop 24-11.

Norfolk members Terri Finch, Jean Croll, Ron Johnson and Sandy Croll got five shots on the seventh end of their Sussex Open Mixed Fours to lead 15-4 at home to Petworth's family trio of husband and wife Peter and Sue Miles and son Darren, with Carol Calder the fourth member of the team.

Despite a 2,1,1,2,3 finish, the Petworth team left themselves far too much to do and lost 25-18.

Husband and wife partnerships, Bobbie and Matt Bonnar (Norfolk), played with Rose and Richard Giles (Arundel).

They were against a family trio, husband and wife Ray and Betty Potten, with son Steve, and Beach Park's Iris Robinson.

With 11 shots scored over the first four ends and the visitors 6-5 ahead, a high-scoring affair was on the cards and Worthing just had the edge as the shot rate dropped.

Going into the last end five up, Betty Potten had her first bowl close to the jack. Matt's last delivery moved the jack and a quick glance looked as though he had made five but Ray's last delivery, and penultimate one of the end, had just gone far enough to register as fourth bowl as his team won 20-18.

A measure for two shots on the last end snatched a National Mixed Pairs victory by one shot for Peggy and Ted Hayward over Norfolk's Ray Leggett and Ann Parsons whose early lead was reduced when they dropped a seven.

Worthing will stage the semi-finals and finals of a Centenary Test Series involving Australia, Canada, Channel Islands, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, Wales, the United States and England to mark the hundredth birthday of the English Association in 20003.
