AS an old Brightonian living in Australia, I was delighted to read about the Stedfast reunion from Mr Les Taylor of Woodingdean (Opinion, March 21).

For many years, my family attended the Railway Mission. My father, a driver with the LBSCR, SR and British Rail, worked his way up from cleaner boy to top link driver.

The Railway Mission and his work were important and integral parts of his life.

While I attended the 12th Company BB, my father - with his union - was instrumental in running an improvement class for cleaners and firemen in the Mission House in Viaduct Road.

Congratulations to you upon the letter.
