It may have taken a long time to get going but I see some of the politicians have lost none of their enthusiasm.

Perhaps it's just where I circulate but I keep running into Tories everywhere.

On Saturday, in the Children's Parade that opened Brighton Festival, I was handed a stick of Tory rock, which was a welcome change from the usual leaflets that score points off one another.

Then, even before I knew the General Election had been called, I met local Tories when I got off the train at Brighton station.

When I got home, I had received a leaflet through the door from them and, on a recent morning, I received a personal letter from David Gold asking for my support.

If he works as hard in Parliament as he does seeking my views, maybe he deserves to win. I haven't made my mind up yet.

I'm still waiting to hear what the other parties have to say. But well done to Gold's troops for making sure he's first off the mark.
