A Mid Sussex woman was slashed across the face by two youths after she stopped to ask directions.

She stopped her car in Vincents Close, Maidenbower, Crawley, and approached some teenagers.

But she received a slash to her face with a weapon, believed to be a knife, and had to be taken by ambulance to Crawley Hospital.

Both youths were white, of slim build, aged between 17 and 19 and 5ft 6in to 5ft 8in tall.

The first had mousy brown hair and wore a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and light jeans.

The second had dark, straight, short hair and wore a dark baseball cap with the letters NY in light writing and a dark sweatshirt with GAP in light writing.

Police later searched the scene with a dog but did not find the weapon. The woman is recovering at her home in Crawley.
