What a load of rubbish

We profiled one of Sussex's worst teams early in the season when they did the impossible - won a match. But old habits die hard and they fell victim to a 19-1 Hastings Sunday League Division Four defeat against Millers Arms, where Matty Walbrin led the way with EIGHT goals.

OUT OF LUCK Poor West Tarring and skipper Andy Carlsberg. The club have never won a cup final during their 50 years' membership of the Worthing League and Andy has won nothing in his long career. The trend did not buckle as they lost 5-2 after a thrilling extra-time Walmsley Cup final against Flex United at Woodside Road.

ORANGE FLAVOUR Life was just orange for Worthing Wanderers when they lifted the President's Divisional Cup final. Wearing their orange kit, Wanderers dyed their hair to match and it inspired them to a 2-1 win against Horsham Haze.

NET IT BE Someone had not put the nets up prior to the Hove Park Colts and Southdown Rovers match in the Mid Sussex U-15s League. But both teams and the referee agreed to play and shared out a 2-2 draw.

MODEST VIEW Harbour View's webmaster is a modest chap. He wrote to us this week telling us his club's home in cyberspace is the "best in Sussex". DES' WONDERS Forty-year-old Des McDonald won the Division Three title a second time for Brighton Electricity. He also won it back in 1983 when he had hair and pace. He has also hung up his boots to concentrate on coaching THANKS A LOT Hollingbury Hawks U-12s manager Rikki Suter is eager to pass around the praise after a good season. Rikki, the daughter of Horsham YMCA boss John, would like to thank trainer Brian Rogers and linesman Spud Howard for helping her this season. Both will miss the team's end-of-season bash when Rikki had a special speech lined up for her helpers. Meanwhile, Hawks are looking for a sponsor to help them next year and anyone interested should contact the club at bholly@btinternet.com.
