Can anyone tell me how long it takes to issue an electric wheelchair for outdoor use? Does anyone ever get one?
A year ago I was informed that, providing I could pass the necessary test, I would be able to have one from the Rehab Centre, Elm Grove, Brighton. I had the test some weeks later - no problems. I should have had a wheelchair.
To date, one year later, I am still waiting. I have lost count of the number of people who have come and gone but, so far, no chair.
I spent money having the porch door and front garden altered to make access easier, seemingly to no purpose. Excuses for not supplying have been varied but co-operation has been non-existent.
The latest demand asked me to sign a form, although there was no indication of what was to be done next. I have complained in writing to the necessary people but no action has been taken.
What sort of people are dealing with the disabled? I read of the man put in the fifth-floor flat and can fully understand his frustration and dismay.
