Having been musical director at Hove Parish Church for more than 20 years, I have seen a steady growth in traffic and parking problems in central Hove recently.

However, it has always been possible to park near All Saints on Saturday evenings (the church is greatly used for concerts) and on Sundays.

The new traffic proposals for central Hove include pay-and-display, seven days a week from morning till night. This means people who wish to worship at any of the central Hove churches of all denominations are to be made to pay to worship.

This is an infringement of our basic rights and I can only deduce the reason for introducing such a scheme is the greed of Brighton and Hove City Council.

I suggest councillors think very carefully before committing themselves to denying people, many of whom are elderly, the ability to worship freely in their churches or synagogues.
