Burgess Hill boss Gary Croydon is sweating on the fitness of striker Ashley Carr ahead of tonight's RUR Cup final against Horsham YMCA at Lancing.

Carr hobbled off with a calf strain during Hillians' 2-1 County League win against Redhill on Saturday.

Croydon said: "He's still struggling and I'm hoping we'll get him through a fitness test prior to the match. Ashley is an important part of our team and he'll be difficult to replace."

Burgess Hill, the cup holders, are YM manager John Suter's tip for the league championship. But his men have already beaten Croydon's team 5-0 and 2-1 this season in league action.

But Suter admits: "That doesn't guarantee success in the final. Burgess Hill are a great side and they'll make it tough. But I'm sure it'll be a good cup final."

Horsham YMCA could have a midfield crisis. Glen Newall (dead leg) is definitely out, while Warren Tilley (back) and Stewart McCreadie (knee) are doubtful.

"We'll hopefully have Warren and Stuart back, but it will be touch and go," added Suter.

The game was originally scheduled for last Tuesday, but the weather once again put paid to it. There will be a lunchtime pitch inspection.
