Adrian Moore aims to end Ritchie Venner's domination of the Sussex Championships on Sunday.

Venner, 35, the current holder, has won the title eight times.

Moore returns to the championships, this year to be held at Horsham, after a ten-year absence and is seeded two.

He said: "I could never find my best form at Hove so now the tournament has moved to Horsham I'm confident of reaching the final and having a go at Ritchie."

Venner holds an England ranking of 21 and will also be playing on his home tables so is favourite to win retain the title. But he can also expect tough opposition from Mayur Majithia, seeded No 4, who recently upset Venner to grab the Crawley crown.

The new All-Sussex women's champion will almost certainly come from one of the three seeds, Sally Weston (Horsham), Rose Rainton (Bexhill) and Teresa Bennett (Eastbourne).

Rainton, 31, chases her fifth county crown, Weston her third and Bennett her fourth.

Meanwhile, Horsham must beat Darlington away on April 8 if they are to have any chance of finishing second in the National League and winning the £1,000 runners-up prize.

Darlington will be odds-on favourites to keep Horsham in third place, where there is no prize money.

Crawley are through to the last 16 in the men's national team event, the Wilmott Cup. They crushed Worthing 5-0, with Venner, Majithia and Terry Haley undefeated.

Hastings crashed out of the National JM Rosebowl after being beaten 5-4 by Harlow and Bromley, despite nine wins by Rose Rainton.
