A man's arm was trapped in a conveyor belt for 40 minutes as firefighters struggled to free him.
The 19-year-old worker was given painkillers as rescuers cut him free from the machinery at Aggregates Supplies in North Quay Road, Newhaven.
He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, with a suspected broken arm.
Firefighters called to the scene at noon yesterday cut four bolts and pulled the motor away but had to use a grinder to cut away part of the frame.
Station commander Alan Cager said: "It was an old piece of machinery and the nuts and bolts were quite difficult to remove."
