The driver of a van involved in a Sussex train crash could face prosecution.
British Transport Police have submitted a file to the Crown Prosecution Service after investigating the incident.
A reply on whether any charges will be brought is expected to be made in the next two weeks.
The van driver and three passengers escaped with minor injuries when the 1835 Brighton-Portsmouth train collided with the van at an isolated crossing near Old Salts Farm Road in Lancing on February 14.
The front carriage of the four car Connex South Central train was derailed and the van destroyed by the impact.
The train had been travelling at about 50 mph and there were 35 passengers on board.
Several passengers were treated for minor injuries and shock after the crash.
Sergeant Gary Ancell, from British Transport Police, said: "We have investigated the incident and spoken to the people involved.
"A report has been compiled and sent off and we are now waiting for the result."
