James Hadley-Binderson had his jaw broken in two places during a rugby scrum and he wasn't even anywhere near the ball at the time.
The promising 17-year-old player from Peacehaven will probably suffer the consequences of this nasty injury for the rest of his life.
Rugby is a contact sport and some injuries are inevitable. But there are increasing signs of gratuitous violence in the game.
The authorities need to take firm action to stamp it out. If the youth who broke James' jaw can be discovered, he should be banned from playing the sport for a long time.
