I was watching a TV report from Rwanda by Comic Relief reporters in a village built by widows who are dying of Aids after having been raped by the men who killed their husbands and children.
These women are collectively caring for the remaining children as each mother dies.
Later, I read Roy Hilliard's call for Comic Relief money to be given to British farmers (Opinion Extra, March 16).
Yes, it is terrible for farmers to lose their livestock but these are animals reared for the slaughterhouse and for which compensation is being paid.
How can the farmers' situation be equated with the violent murders of the families of these remarkable women in Rwanda?
One-third of Comic Relief funds are distributed in Britain - to abused children, Alzheimer's disease sufferers, children with HIV. Who do you think needs your donation most?
