Adur District Council needs every penny it can get to sort out both the mess it was left and under-funding by central government.

No political group or councillor objected to the sale of the paintings at the council tax-setting meeting.

Since the publicity I started, several councillors and members of the public have approached me to find some way of saving and showing the pictures.

This I welcome. I hope we can find a way, not to save all the pictures but the ones that show Adur's history.

With the help of the Independent Beach Resident councillors and councillors from other parties in a non-political alliance, we can make this happen. I have asked that the next meeting of the policy and resources committee looks again at the sale but, as there is no one party in control, I cannot guarantee the right outcome.

More than anything, I would like the public to see these pictures, which have been hidden away for years.

I very much hope this can be done without the silly point scoring some people love to indulge in. Let us put Adur before party politics.
