Having read the notifications regarding proposed parking procedures within Hove, I would like to record the following observations and proposals that obviously have not been taken into account.
Now Brighton and Hove has achieved city status, Brighton and Hove City Council should abandon its provincial outlook and adopt an approach appropriate for a city.
Westminster City Council implemented an excellent street parking system that generated a generous income to enable it to finance a proper implementation of parking procedures and subsequent monitoring.
Based on the aforementioned, I consider the proposed fees for hourly parking in Hove inadequate to cover the cost of implementation and subsequent control.
I would suggest the hourly rates of parking proposed be substantially increased accordingly to provide income sufficient to cover the cost of monitoring by traffic wardens.
Failure to monitor compliance would defeat the whole object of the exercise.
