You've all heard of Zamora the Scorer - but what about Super Mitch?

Striker Chris Mitchell is old enough to be Bobby Zamora's father, but proving to be every bit as clinical as the Albion wonderkid.

The 43-year-old, who plays for Brighton Electricity on Saturdays and Station Cavaliers on Sundays, has already netted 32 goals in 33 matches for the two teams this season.

And he is not even a striker.

Chris's goalscoring exploits from midfield this season suggest he is aiming to finish the campaign with a goal for every year of his age.

He said: "I love football and scoring goals, but it's not about me. The game is a team effort and I'm just fortunate enough to be the man scoring the goals."

But his team-mates and friends rave about their veteran star. Brighton Electricity manager Des MacDonald, who has played with Chris for over 20 years, said he has never met anyone as fit.

"A few years ago Chris did a cycle ride from the Goldstone Ground to Gillingham," said Des. "That's about 75 miles. He hadn't cycled for ten years and hasn't done since, but I'd never seen anything like it.

"His dedication to football is unbelievable. He's a unique talent and certainly someone people look up to."

Chris, who lives in Brighton, has deformed feet. He struggles to find boots that can fit him, but despite that his finishing skills are in a world of their own.

Station Cavaliers boss Barry Kelly said: "When you look at his feet, it is hard to believe the guy can play football. He gets a bit of stick about his feet from the lads, but no-one can give him grief about his goalscoring record.

"Chris is like a guy in his early 20s. He is not a player with great pace, but he can run all day. His heading ability in particular is superb."

The player himself has ambitions of playing for many years to come. It will take something seriously bad to stop him taking his place on the parks every weekend.

He said: "I'm not thinking about the day I give up. When you've scored a lot of goals like this season, that's not even something that would cross your mind.

"I like playing the game fair. In all my years on the football field, I've never once been booked."
