Worthing are hoping there will be cause for double celebration this weekend.

Tomorrow they entertain Cliftonville in the knowledge that victory should ensure them promotion from Kent/Sussex division one.

Then on Sunday a coachload of supporters will follow the side to Dorset for their HA Vase semi-final clash with Weymouth.

A place in the final at Milton Keynes is the prize up for grabs on Sunday and Worthing, who reached the HA Trophy final in 1999, are considered slight favourites.

Skipper Simon Holloway said: "We will try to hit them hard from the start on Sunday and take the game to them.

"I am quite confident if we play our best we should go through and then we have a day out at Milton Keynes which would be fantastic."

Team manager Rob Warner is hoping Worthing can continue their excellent record of 13 away wins from 15 league and cup matches this season.

He said: "If we play as well as we did against Chapeltown (quarter-final) we have a good chance. We don't want to travel all the way to Weymouth and not come back winners."

Warner and Holloway both agree Weymouth cannot be taken lightly, especially as they boast home advantage.

The Hampshire League outfit are a small club, running only two men's teams, but they have impressed in the Vase this year.

Skipper Dave Chubb said: "We are a good side and we will do our best to win but at the same time we aren't stupid.

"We have done well to reach the semis and, while we won't be lying down, we know we have done well to get this far. It is a bit of a win-win situation."

The experienced Mark Newson is unavailable for Worthing but Anthony McCartney and Andy Allen are both back and Worthing plan to play the same side on Saturday and Sunday.

Worthing are currently top of Kent/Sussex division one but must win their final match against Cliftonville to avoid being overtaken by Ashford and title favourites Burnt Ash, who have a match in hand.

Warner added: "We must be focused on Saturday and forget about the cup. If we don't win on Saturday we probably won't be promoted."

Worthing squad: Godsmark, McCartney, Godber, Martin, Fuller, Edmondson, Massie, Sciandro, Dand, Holloway, Duncan, Ballamy, Allen, Swetman.
