So after 20 years, they've realised the shortcomings of the Brighton Centre (Argus, March 10). Well, well, well. I told you so.

Now let's concentrate on building a strong local economy including, but not depending on, the tourist and conference trade, in a safe and decent environment.

And instead of wanting to shower huge amounts of taxpayers money on dubious recipients, the Chancellor of the Exchequer could realistically fund urgently-needed improvements to our road and rail chaos, the NHS, education and the police.

They are vital ingredients for a good future - and plain common sense.
