If we have an elected mayor or not will make very little difference. For, if Tony Blair has his way, we will be completely dominated by Brussels.

Coupled with the effects of global warming, these are the main concerns of the "chattering classes".

City councillors, elected mayors, Simon Fanshawe, Lord Bassam - none can stop either of these destructive forces.
