Each year thousands of tobacco addicts use National No Smoking Day as the impetus they need to quit their habit.
Their efforts are supported by high-profile Government advertising, the sympathetic ear of health experts and a host of therapies like hypnotherapy, nicotine gum or the BICOM sessions tested by our reporter.
Surely those who really need a support network are the ones forced to endure weeks of irritability and comfort- eating by their friends, family and colleagues.
