Following Gordon Brown's Budget we should all be in mourning. Prudence died in the most painful way possible and it is not just Prudence who felt the pain.

If you are a student, you will still have ever increasing debt. If you are a commuter, you will still have to suffer cancellations and disruptions on the railways.

If you are too scared to walk the streets after dark, there will be no increase in policemen to make you feel safe.

If you are trying to run a business, you will continue to be strangled by red tape. If you are ill, you will still go to the back of a continuingly growing NHS waiting list.

"Things can only get better," Tony Blair told us before the last election. They certainly haven't for anyone in Brighton. I am sure the electorate will not be taken in again.
