Worthing warmed up for their HA Vase semi final with a 5-0 win over Sevenoaks which took them back to the top of Kent/Sussex division one.
This weekend now becomes one of the biggest in the club's history. Worthing need to beat Cliftonville in their final league game on Saturday to secure promotion and keep their title hopes alive, then on Sunday they visit Weymouth with a place in the final of the HA Vase up for grabs.
The Kent/Sussex division one title picture became a little clearer on Saturday with Ashford being held to a 3-3 draw by Maidstone. Burnt Ash, with two games still to play, are now Worthing's main rivals for the title.
Goals by Mark Duncan, skipper Simon Holloway following a fantastic build-up and Cerdic Atkinson put Worthing 3-0 ahead at half time against Sevenoaks.
Second half efforts by Max Sciandro and Holloway completed the rout, while Lee Martin was man-of-the-match for another excellent display in defence.
Eastbourne scored twice in the first minute and went on to beat Sussex rivals Newhaven 9-0. Dave Morgan scored four times while the others came from Neil Cunningham, David Addleston, Nick Corbett, Phil Hunt and Tony Hayes.
Penguins drew 3-3 in a physical encounter with Cliftonville. Marcus Brunton scored twice and Will Aldous got the other for a Penguins side which has shown significant progress in the last few games.
Horsham ladies won 3-2 against Epsom in the Women's Southern Premier thanks to goals from Lynne Jones, Lucy Clark and a penalty flick by Jo Larter.
