Brighton finally overcame Middleton and Bognor 4-2 to remain third in the Kent/Sussex Regional League.

With two games remaining, Brighton are six points behind both Tulse Hill and Holcombe.

Although they can no longer catch either side, due to far superior goal difference, Brighton can still have a say in who wins the title as they visit Holcombe this Saturday.

Scorers on Saturday were Paul Daniels, Barnaby Stubbs and two from Richard Love. Dave Clayton and Brian Lock replied for the combined side, who finished with nine men following the dismissals of Lock and Mark Pacey.

Mid Sussex were swept aside 12-1 by Tulse Hill. Injury-hit Mids played half the match with only ten men as they had no substitutes and Giles Musson went off injured.

The consolation came from Jeremy Waite who finished off a smart move involving Mike Jordain and Mike Dovey. Phil Butcher scored a dramatic late winner as Crawley overcame a spirited BBHC 3-2.

Earlier, Crawley had twice taken the lead through Stuart Donaldson and Terry Higgs.

Horsham drew 6-6 with rock bottom Marden Russets in a game which had an end-of-season feel about it.

At times Horsham played without any defenders and they trailed 6-4 until two minutes from time.

Dom Cohen secured a draw with a penalty stroke which came after the final whistle. The other scorers were Andy Simmons (2), Cohen, Richard Lowe and Andy Down.
