Please let Hove keep some of its historic identity. The quieter, laid-back twin, contrasting peacefully with the informality, hurly-burly and extroversion of its prodigious sister, Brighton.
The Hove lawns have always provided a pleasant choice for residents and visitors who wished to walk, sit and picnic in peace. I am appalled that Brighton and Hove City Council arrogantly makes decisions to hold events on the lawns without any consultation with the residents.
To give permission to Peace 2001 - after its selfish non-concern for our environment last year - seems ridiculous.
Other events last year, some springing up overnight without prior warning, produced ear-aching noise and senseless vandalism.
It would be interesting to know how much the council makes from permits and fees for these events and if it has any intention of using some of its profit in making good the damage.
