A bag of French boules brought Kylie Minogue's Brighton concert to a halt last night.
A suspicious package was spotted by security officers behind a pillar outside the front of The Brighton Centre, Brighton, where the Australian singer was due to play.
Police were alerted and streets surrounding the centre were cordoned off 25 minutes before the concert was due to start.
Officers alerted the bomb squad and Kylie fans who were already in the building were herded away from the front of the venue.
Inspector Allan Penfold discovered the metal balls used in the popular French game similar to British bowls.
The bomb disposal callout was cancelled and the cordon lifted at 8.45pm. The concert went ahead.
Peter Mills, Chief Inspector of Operations at Brighton police, said: "In the current situation, with the BBC Television Centre bomb, people need to be vigilant."
