Masked hunt saboteurs threw bricks during a protest outside the home of a kennel manager, frightening his pregnant wife and daughter.

Fifty members of the Surrey Anti-Hunt Campaign targeted the East Grinstead home of Mark Bycroft on Saturday night.

They demonstrated after a planned protest at the local hunt ball did not go ahead because of the foot-and-mouth crisis.

The protesters, who had travelled from all over the South of England, made their way to the kennels of the Old Surrey and Burstow Hunt in Felbridge.

One saboteur carried a wailing siren while others threw stones at the dog houses, causing dozens of hounds to bark wildly.

They retreated when a police riot van arrived, letting off fireworks as they left. There were no arrests.

Mr Bycroft condemned the actions of the protesters. He said: "We are sick and tired of this now.

"These people are simply organised hooligans running around the countryside doing whatever they want."

"I've got my wife in that house who is expecting and I have a young daughter. They've come here and thrown bricks at our home."

He said one brick landed on the roof, causing tiles to break.

He said: "If I walked into East Grinstead with a balaclava on letting off fireworks I'd be arrested. Why is it any different?

"And they were on a footpath closed due to the foot-and-mouth crisis."

Mr Bycroft's home was attacked by stone-throwing protesters in September and the family have also been victims of a poster campaign.
