Shane Manville, 25, of Glynde Road, Brighton, has appeared before Lewes Crown Court charged with murdering Anthony Evans.
Mr Evans, 29, a plasterer, of Bolsover Road, Hove, died at the Royal Sussex County Hospital on January 23, following an incident at the Escape Club, in Marine Parade, Brighton, two days earlier.
Manville was remanded in custody to return to the crown court on April 27.
