A psychic and a Dyno-Rod man helped reunite a missing cat with its family after an eight-day ordeal.

When the Denman family moved to St Leonards, four-year-old Roxy showed his unhappiness by disappearing up the chimney to escape noisy builders.

Kim and Paul Denman and children Joseph, 13, and Rose, 11, spotted him cowering up the chimney at their home in Maize Hill nine days later.

Firefighters tried in vain to free Roxy and in desperation Kim contacted a psychic, who assured her that the cat was fit and well.

Finally, the Denmans called in Dyno-Rod and workers used a lightweight CCTV camera to probe the chimney.

Sure enough, they discovered Roxy sitting on a ledge - but still refusing to come down.

After further coaxing failed, the Dyno-Rod team resorted to low-tech methods - and poured a bucket of water down the chimney.

Roxy appeared in the lounge wet, dirty and a little disgruntled, to the joy of the Denmans.

Kim said: "We could hear him miaowing, but no amount of calling or temptation in the form of food would coax Roxy out. We even tried turkey and salmon, but nothing worked.

"Although I was really worried about him, a psychic we'd consulted during his ordeal assured me he was OK and she was proved right."
