THIS is the terrifying moment when masked raiders robbed a building society.

The three men were caught on security cameras as they entered the Bradford and Bingley in Western Road, Brighton, at 4.40pm on Wednesday.

They shouted threats as they jumped over the counters, which had no security screens, before rifling through cash drawers and escaping with hundreds of pounds.

The ordeal lasted 22 seconds but the two women members of staff were left traumatised.

Detective Inspector Bill Warner, of Brighton CID, said: "They were both petrified but they did very well under the circumstances."

The raiders fled into Clarence Square and Russell Square and were seen heading towards Regency Square.

There was one customer in the branch at the time.

All three raiders were between 18 and 20.

One was white and 5ft 10in, the other two were both black and 5ft 6in.
