The owners of Wembley have won the right to use the name of the stadium as an internet address.

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has ordered www.wembleystadium.net should be transferred from a Mr Thomson, of Aylesbury, who claimed he was known by the name.

Mr Thomson, who is 7ft tall, said he was given the name because of his height and large frame.

The WIPO also awarded the rights of www.jaapstam.com to the Manchester United defender, while former Nottingham Forest and Celtic striker Pierre van Hooijdonk, now with Benfica, Potugal, has also won the rights to his name.

The two players were among seven Dutch internationals who took their cases to WIPO to gain control of domains using their names.

Anyone can register a domain name for a few pounds, which has led to so-called "cybersquatters" to file for famous names, some of which are now worth millions of pounds.

WIPO allows those who think they have the right to a domain to get it back without having to fight a costly legal battle.
