Many years ago as a youngster I slept in a nice warm bed throughout the winter months. Not that I slept alone - there were two or three other brothers in the same bed. The rest of the family slept warmly.
Being the youngest of 12 children, although we wanted for nothing, money was not at a premium. When October came around, my mother would send me to see Mr Groves, the head minister at Islingword Road Mission Hall where we went to Sunday school, to obtain a written note to collect some blankets from Queen's Square.
Being so young I never knew who the benefactor was, but on reading Adam Trimingham's Legacy Of A Heavenly Father (Weekend, December 2) I now know.
On behalf of my mother, father and family, although posthumously, I thank you Father Arthur Wagner from the bottom of my heart for giving us such comfort during those hard times.
