Doug Streeter thinks the people of Peckham keep quiet because of the stigma of being a "grass" (December 4).
It is more likely to be because they know even if they did speak out the criminals would be back on the streets in no time.
This is why there is such contempt for older people. They remember when criminals were punished and the streets were safer.
They are a reminder to today's wishy-washy society of how bad things have become.
Decadence at the top is to blame for crime, not those who have to live with the consequences of every new fad.
The glib politicans who lecture everyone else should remember cream is not the only thing that rises to the top.
