I must vent my anger at the shoddy way Brighton and Hove Council deals with Hove.
The final straw was the repair of shelters on the seafront at Hove's boundary.
I list the catalogue of failures: The King Alfred sports centre is a disgrace, overpriced and completely outdated. After four years of negotiations, it is back to square one.
The gasworks fiasco has gone on for years. Again, no resolution on prime land that could offer the people of Hove an excellent resource.
The council is trying to introduce resident parking areas, which is farcical.
People double-park all over Hove. I have not seen the police or traffic wardens issuing any tickets. In fact, I have not seen a traffic warden for months.
So how will they enforce residents' parking when they do not even impose the Highway Code?
Then we see a six per cent rise in council tax, which from what I can see will go to support all the drop-outs who flock to Brighton.
Hove is just a cash cow for Brighton.
As for the question of city status, this will further empower Brighton and leave Hove as a neglected suburb.
