A man was left bleeding in the street after being kicked and punched around the head.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack, which happened around 10.30pm on Saturday.
The 28-year-old victim was walking home along Elms Avenue, Eastbourne, when he was struck on the head by an unknown instrument and knocked to the ground.
He was then repeatedly punched and kicked around the head.
The victim suffered head and facial injuries and required stitches.
