Palmeira Avenue is very much not The Place To Be at the moment. Building work has been going on for the past two years and there is no sign of it coming to an end. We were told in a letter from the building company the work on a block of flats would be finished in October of this year but there is another floor to be erected and then the roof.

The builders have blocked off a large section of the public highway, making it dangerous to cross the road.

The road seems to be used as a speedway to get quickly from Cromwell Road down to the seafront and, as there is only room for one lane of traffic, every day brings a number of near misses.

Someone is also using the road as a dump for old vans. Currently there are four. The police have been informed but have taken no action.

Parking spaces are in short supply for people living in Palmeira Avenue who have current excise licences. They are being taken over by builders, dumped vans and travellers and no one seems to want to do anything about it.
