Councillor John Ballance quotes the Council for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE) position on incinerator emissions and claims this a thought-provoking idea. Clearly, thought-provoking ideas must be at a minimum at Brighton and Hove Council.
A little research reveals the amount of pollution emitted by an incinerator of the size proposed is equivalent to that produced by 385 million vehicle miles. The effects on health will be observed 30 miles or more from a plant. Now that is a thought-provoking idea.
The sad irony is if West Sussex chooses to build an incinerator at Beeding, Brighton and Hove will suffer the same effects but will hardly be in a position to complain.
